Starting on the 1-st of June 2006, Russian and worldwide hardware market introduces new powerful producing structure with eight thousand total amount of personnel, called Open Joint Stock Company «Magnitogorsk Hardware and Sizing Plant «MMK-METIZ». OJSC «MMK-METIZ» Board of directors decided to appoint as General Manager Alexey Dmitrievich Nosov, grandson of Grigoriy Ivanovich Nosov, legendary General Manager of Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant who ruled MMK in the years of the Great Patriotic War (the World War II).

OJSC «MMK-METIZ» was created consequently the merge of two oldest plants of the Magnitogorsk city – Hardware Metallurgical Plant and Sizing Plant. For more than six decades they are by right among the enterprises defining the face of Russian sizing industry. This plants have rich history and traditions. They were created in the face of the Great Patriotic War (the World War II). During first months of the war evacuated machinery and equipment from Ukraine and Central part of Russia had been delivered in Magnitogorsk City. In hardest conditions of war time main producing departments had been set in operation and almost at one time with construction of shop floors manufacture of products necessary for the battle-front had been established, including fasteners, mesh and sized steel... Mother country highly appreciated labour of Magnitogorsk workers during the Great Patriotic War (the World War II) – Plants had been repeatedly awarded with great governmental awards. The Hardware plant had been given for eternal keeping the Red Banner of the State Defence Committee. In the year 1943, The Sizing Plant personnel had been awarded for the first time with the challenge Red Flag of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and the People's Commissar for Iron Industry. It had been awarded with rank the «Best hardware plant».

A period of 1950-1980 years was marked for the plants with great working progress. Production expanded and new products developed. On the 22 of January 1971, by ukase of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of USSR, The Hardware Metallurgical Plant had been awarded with the Red Banner of Labour for accomplishing tasks on increase of hardware production and development of new products. The Hardware Metallurgical Plant builds new shops: sizing extrusion shop and dowel production shop. The Sizing plant develops new advanced technologies and builds new shops: Cold Strap Shop and Steel Cord Shop. The economic crisis of 90-th of the last century strikes the plants hard. But plants have stand it. Technology and well-qualified staff have been preserved, position among the leaders of hardware producers have been held.

Formation in the year 2003 of the Management Company «MMK-METIZ» became an extension of integration policy of Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant – the main strategic partner of the Magnitogorsk hardware and sizing production. The Management Company had been created to coordinate activities of the Hardware metallurgical plant and the Sizing plant, and had been given authority of the united executive board of the two plants. This union with common production distribution and price policies and production strategies allowed plants working staffs stop feel competition with each other. Redistribution of production assortment, reorganization of sales and financial activities, optimization of production costs had been performed. This lead to increase of production effectiveness, which was crucial in conditions of severe competition on the hardware market, both local and worldwide. Well-directed efforts for product quality improvement allowed the hardware metallurgical plant to obtain International Quality Standard ISO 9001:2000 Compliance Certificate and the sizing plant to obtain GOST R system certificate for compliance with ISO 9001:2001 standard. This certificates place our products on higher level and provide high competitiveness. The plants operating results as part of the Management Company confirmed appropriateness of the strategic decision about its creation. Production output increases and new products are developed every year. In July 2005 at the Hardware Metallurgical Plant stockholders meeting new company name had been accepted: OJSC «Magnitogorsk Hardware and Sizing Plant «MMK-METIZ» and its short trade name OJSC «MMK-METIZ». It wasn't just «signboard change», it was continuation of the plants consolidation started two years before. Working in powerful production alliance, the plants in the year 2005 took second place for sales volume among Russian hardware producers. A lot had been done for technical re-equipment of production. Within two years of the Management Company «MMK-METIZ» activity, galvanized bright coated wire production line, high carbon wire galvanizing line, continuous vibrational pickling line had been put in operation. Structural self-tapping screw forming line had been assembled. Precommissioning of self-tapping screw surface impregnation equipment is conducted.

From the 1-st of June 2006 the plants act as single production body, single legal entity OJSC «MMK-METIZ», which resulted from merging of the OJSC «Magnitogorsk Hardware and Sizing Plant «MMK-METIZ» and the OJSC «Magnitogorsk Sizing Plant». Consolidation process of the two oldest Magnitogorsk companies fully complied with Russian legislation, which allowed to avoid impairment of interests of stockholders, personnel, creditors and the state. Renovation of structure, development of technical re-equipment program and production modernization guarantee stable progress of the company, quality improvement and increased competitiveness of products on the hardware market.

On October 2006, OJSC «MMK-METIZ» obtained ISO 9001:2000 Compliance Certificate, issued by the BUREAU VERITAS Certification. Certification area – development and supply of: cold rolled strap, sized steel, steel carbon wire, bimetallic flux-cored wire, mesh, steel rope, railway and machine-building fastener, welding and filler electrode, bimetallic wires.

Production and distribution analysis showed the appropriateness of the plants consolidation strategy. In the year 2006 production output increased for 24 per cent in compare with the year before; sales proceeds increased for 36% within the same period. The Company stable financial and economic position allowed to conduct social oriented policy and to create conditions for the personnel promotion and social program financing. Salary had been increased for 23% in 2006.

The year 2007 had been remarkable for the company: in October it celebrates 65 anniversary. The company reached it with worthy production performance. Production output within the first half of the year overcame output for the same period of the year before for 52 per cent. The company is stably among the three hardware industry leaders in Russian Federation.

A lot of outstanding manufacturing and social arrangements took place within the bounds of the anniversary celebration: new equipment and machinery put in operation in the three main production shops, publishing house «Russian Elite» issued the book «Metizy Magnitki» («Magnitogorsk Hardware Products»), dedicated to formation and evolution of hardware and sizing production in Magnitogorsk.

On the 4-th of October on the city walk of fame took place ceremonial opening of the OJSC «MMK-METIZ» Star. The symbolic company Star is acknowledgement of the Magnitogorsk Hardware and Sizing Plant achievements, not only in production, but also for great contribute in the city development. The company applies the quality policy. Certificate audit confirmed that the OJSC «MMK-METIZ» QMS conforms the international standard ISO 9001:2000 and issued conformance certificate. In the year 2007 the OJSC «MMK-METIZ» quality management system have been certificated for conformance with the ISO/ TS 16949: 2002 «Special requirements for application of the ISO 9001:2000 in the automotive industry and for the companies producing appropriate parts». This provide competitiveness advantage for the plant, and first of all free entry onto the automotive producers market, since the certificate provide OJSC «MMK-METIZ» an opportunity to supply its production for both domestic and foreign automotive companies.

In the year 2007 took place certification of rolling of cold-formed periodic profile B500C grade for concrete structures reinforcement in the system GOST R, and conformance certificate had been obtained. Considerable part of the OJSC «MMK-METIZ» products have been certified by now. OJSC «MMK-METIZ» products certificated in different systems accounts for 70 % of total production, which evidencing sufficiently high production quality and the company constant improvement policy.
